I have lived in this neighbourhood for eight years and commute downtown daily, switching between cycling and the bus depending on the weather. My biggest concern is the lack of connected bike infrastructure. The new lanes on Point Grey Road are excellent, but they end abruptly at Macdonald, forcing cyclists onto a busy stretch with no protection. This is where I have had my closest calls with vehicles. A complete, connected network matters more than isolated improvements. I also believe the city should invest more in secure bike parking at transit hubs. The Granville Street bike lockers are always full, and I have seen several neighbours have their bikes stolen from outdoor racks. Covered, keycard-access bike rooms at SkyTrain stations would encourage more people to combine cycling with transit, especially on rainy days when they may not want to ride the entire distance. Regarding bike-sharing, the program has been a success in my view, but the pricing could be more accessible for lower-income residents.
