TEAS 6 vs TEAS 7: What Changed and Which Version You Actually Sit

TEAS 7 is the current version - TEAS 6 is retired

ATI launched TEAS 7 in June 2022 and retired the previous version, TEAS 6. Any program still describing a 'TEAS' requirement uses the seven-version blueprint unless they say otherwise in writing. If you see TEAS 6 material in an old book or a free practice site, treat it as outdated practice - the structure changed.

The big practical shifts: English grew by a third, Science and Reading shrank, and 20 of the 170 questions no longer count toward your score. The sub-content breakdowns were also rewritten - for example, TEAS 7 English is split into Conventions, Knowledge of Language and Vocabulary, and Science now explicitly lists Scientific Reasoning as a content area.

Which one should you study?

Study TEAS 7 material exclusively. The drills here are built against the TEAS 7 blueprint, and the exam dates the questions on them reflect that. If your program's website mentions a version number older than seven, email the admissions office before you assume anything - a handful of schools still word their pages loosely.

Is a TEAS 8 coming?

ATI had not announced a TEAS 8 as of September 2026. Version changes are announced well ahead of rollout, so this page stays current by checking the official ATI material on the format guide. Plan around TEAS 7 today.
