Express Entry category draws
Since 2023, IRCC runs category-based Express Entry draws that invite candidates with experience in specific fields, often at lower CRS cut-offs than all-program draws. The six categories are French-language proficiency, healthcare, STEM, trades, transport, and agriculture/agri-food.
Indicative 2026 CRS ranges
| Category | Indicative CRS range (2026) |
|---|---|
| French-language proficiency | 395–430 |
| Canadian Experience Class (CEC) | 495–530 |
| Healthcare & social services | 450–490 |
| Trades | 495–515 |
| STEM | 480–505 |
| Agriculture & agri-food | 410–445 |
| Provincial Nominee (PNP) | 700+ (with nomination) |
Ranges are indicative based on 2025–26 draw patterns; actual cut-offs vary by round. Confirm current scores on the IRCC rounds-of-invitations page.
Provincial priorities
Provinces run their own nominee draws targeting local needs — Ontario and BC for tech/healthcare, the Prairies for agriculture/trades, and the Atlantic region for healthcare, childcare and hospitality. A provincial nomination adds 600 CRS points.

Most economic programs require CLB 7+ in all four skills. CELPIP General is IRCC's designated test and reports 1–12 that maps 1:1 to CLB. See our CRS points guide.
