The five MET Speaking tasks

How MET Speaking is scored
Raters assess three things, and each is worth preparing differently:
- Task Completion — did the response do what the task asked (describe, persuade, compare)?
- Language Resources — range of vocabulary and grammatical structures.
- Intelligibility & Delivery — pronunciation, fluency and pace.
Two habits move the needle fastest: never stop early (fill the full 60 or 90 seconds — silence is scored as limited task completion), and answer inside the task. Describing a picture is not the moment for a long personal story.
